Alan H Schnur (b. 1948), WHO consultant, fails to negotiate a bamboo pole serving as a bridge during the monsoon season. He served as a US Peace Corps volunteer with the smallpox eradication programme in Ethiopia from 1971-7474 before being recruited as a WHO consultant for service in India and Bangladesh.
