WHO epidemiologist Dr Hari Mehta and eradication team members review collected field data.
Some of those seated with Dr. Mehta were local volunteers. They became resident vaccinators, data collectors, and conduits of information. Because they were local, they were familiar and trusted. They spoke the local dialect, facilitating enhanced communication with fellow residents. They played a profound role in achieving a successful outcome to the eradication programme.
