1975

Dr Mahboober Rahman (standing at left, b. 1933), former director of the successful Bangladeshi national malaria eradication programme, assumed overall direction of Bangladesh's new integrated health programme in April 1974. Reorganization of the nation's health system had begun in October 1973 and all health activities had been suspended for 7 months. Dr Rahman's administrative skill quickly brought order to chaos.
