Ethiopian highlands. Ethiopia is an enormous country, at more than 1.1 million sq km (435,00 sq mi). Most of the country consists of rugged mountains (called the 'highlands'), rising to 3000m (9800 ft). Its peak elevation is Ras Dashen, at 4500m (15,000 ft).
