Dr Lev N Khodakevich (USSR), joined the program in 1973 and served as a medical epidemiologist in India, Bangladesh, and Ethiopia before joining the WHO headquarters unit. After the conclusion of the SEP, he continued to research monkeypox in the Central African Republic and Zaire.Here, he is taking samples of a patient's pustules; they will be sent to a WHO collaborating laboratory for confirmatory diagnosis.
